  • General:

Consider your new tattoo as an open wound.

The full healing process may take 3 to 4 weeks, depending on the person.

Handle your new tattoo with clean hand

Ointment options: Cetaphil, Aquaphor, Hustlebutter; A & D lotion. All non-scented. No Vaseline. No Neosporin. No Aloe Vera.

Let your artist know if you have a latex allergy. If you do not use sandier/second skin, follow the artist’s aftercare instructions.

Each artist has aftercare instructions best suited for their work. Please follow the artist’s aftercare and use this as a general guideline.

    Saniderm / Second Skin:

Please leave it on for 2-3 days. It’s waterproof, so you can shower with it, but don’t soak your healing tattoo in water.

You may notice there’s plasma/ excess ink seeping out of the tattoo and collecting beneath the second skin. No worries, it’s normal. BUT remove the second skin if there’s a large ink sack or the plasma starts to leak out of the second skin.

After 2-3 days, remove the second skin slowly in the shower. Wash the excess ink and plasma off with unscented soap/water. Let your new tattoo air dry.

Apply a THIN layer of aftercare ointment once a day and do not cake it.

Important things to keep in mind:

Avoid any direct sunlight on the tattoo for at least one week. However, please apply sunscreen on your tattoo AFTER it’s healed(The more sun, the more it fades, and the pigment will spread or fade with age. The key to a crisp and bright tattoo is hydration and daily moisturizer.)

Avoid alcohol or any blood thinning agents for 48 hours before and after your tattoo.

Avoid soaking your healing tattoo in water - no bathing, no swimming, no surfing, no sauna, etc. Minimize exercising as your sweat can soak it too.

DON'T pick your flaky healing tattoo.

DON’T scratch your healing tattoo. Your tattoo might feel itchy as the flakes keep forming. Gently pat or rinse it under warm water.

DON'T excessive cream as the scab will become thick, and you will suffocate the wound.

Seek medical care immediately if you suspect your tattoo is getting infected.
